With the aim of promoting the use of photovoltaic solar energy and, in general, renewable energies, both the regional government and the different municipalities offer aid, bonuses and subsidies for solar panels in the Balearic Islands.
New subsidies for solar panels in the Balearic Islands: PITEIB
The Balearic Government has launched a new initiative, the PITEIB subsidies, to promote self-consumption facilities in the Balearic Islands. This new aid program will finance solar installations of up to 10 kWp and storage systems or batteries of up to 30 kWh.
Grant Details
Installation period: Between June 16, 2022 and July 31, 2025.
The deadline to request these aid will end on December 31, 2024.
Currently the application period for these aids has ended
€3,500,000 are allocated to promote self-consumption projects, with the application period open from January 15 to March 30, 2024. This initiative is aimed at individuals with projects of up to 5 kWp and 30 kWh of storage. The subsidized rates are as follows:
It is important to note that this financing opportunity requires the execution of the projects before October 31, 2024.
Who can apply for FOTOPAR2024 aid?
They may be beneficiaries of this aid:
Persons domiciled in the Balearic Islands who do not carry out any economic activity through which they offer goods and/or services on the market in the place where the self-consumption facility provides services.
These aid are intended for energy communities, companies and public entities located in industrial estates.
Supported projects can include installations of up to 1,000 kWp and 500 kWh of storage, as well as the use of shared vehicles and zero-emission shuttle buses. The aid can increase up to 60% if self-consumption is carried out with a canopy or involves the removal of asbestos.
With a budget of 15 million euros, the application period is open from January 15 to July 15, 2024 and projects must be executed before July 31, 2025.
With the aim of promoting self-consumption in communities of owners and improving energy efficiency, a subsidy program is launched with an allocation of 8 million euros.
The application period runs from January 15 to July 15, 2024. These grants are intended for communities of owners interested in incorporating self-consumption systems with a capacity of up to 100 kWp and 100 kWh of storage.
In addition, efficiency actions in lighting and water pumping are promoted, with the aim of reducing final energy consumption by 30%. The subsidies offer €710/kWp, with an increase in aid if self-consumption is carried out under a canopy or involves the removal of asbestos. In this case, the projects must be executed before July 31, 2025.
In order to promote self-consumption among individuals and promote the next generation of renewable energies, a subsidy program is launched with a provision of 15.5 million euros.
The application period runs from April 1 to December 30, 2024.
These subsidies are designed for individuals interested in incorporating self-consumption systems with a capacity of up to 10 kWp, 30 kWh of storage and the use of aerothermal energy.
The program offers aid of €600/kWp, €400/kWh and €1,600/kWt (with a maximum of €9,000), with the possibility of obtaining an additional 20% bonus for combined actions.
Participants will be able to apply until July 31
The application will be submitted electronically along with certain documentation that will need to be collected, filled out and delivered, in addition to a detailed budget for the installation project. At SolarTradex we take care of all the management of the different documents and paperwork in general.
In addition to the incentive of subsidies, the credits of many municipalities in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) quota and, obviously, the savings on the electricity bill through self-consumed energy or the marketing of surpluses must be added.
RDL8/2023 extends the deduction of 40% of the amounts paid from the entry into force of RDL19/2021 and until 12/31/2024 for the works carried out to improve the consumption of non-renewable primary energy in the habitual residence or any other property owned by you that is rented.
In other words, if we install a self-consumption system at home, we can deduct 40% of the investment, with a maximum of €3,000, if we demonstrate that thanks to the action carried out we save 30% of primary energy consumption. renewable or we achieve an A or B energy classification in the house's energy efficiency certificate.
To demonstrate this savings, it is necessary to have an energy efficiency certificate for the house no older than 2 years and a second certificate after the installation of the solar panels.
This certificate shows the consumption of non-renewable primary energy and, by comparison, allows you to calculate whether the savings achieved reaches the required 30%, and/or verify the energy classification of the home.
It is also important to note that the maximum annual base ranges between 5,000 and 7,500 euros per year depending on each specific case.
In addition, many municipalities in the Balearic Islands offer reductions in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) that can reach up to 100% (as is the case of Palma) for a period of up to 6 years on the total amount of the tax.

On the other hand, some municipal governments of the Islands also provide credits on the Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works that can reach up to 95% of the total amount of the fee.
The State Tax Administration Agency (Treasury) admits applying a reduced VAT of 10% when it comes to “rehabilitation works, analogous or related, in buildings.” Those installations that are part of a new work, a major rehabilitation, or where solar panels or other energy equipment do not represent more than 40% of the cost of the work can qualify for a reduced VAT of 10%
At the end of 2023, the European Commission announced the list of islands and island groups that are part of the "Thirty renewable islands by 2030" program, which is part of the Clean Energy for EU Islands initiative and which promotes complete energy independence in the island territories of the European Union through the transition to renewable energy sources. Among those chosen are the Balearic archipelago and also the islands of Graciosa and La Palma, in the Canary Islands, as well as other island territories of ten European countries.
The opening of the office in the Balearic Islands allows us to be even more present here and actively contribute to the island's energy transition through quality and proximity. At SolarTradex we carry out turnkey engineering, specialising in all types of photovoltaic installations, with a history of quality and customer satisfaction that speaks for itself.
In the current context, where photovoltaic technology assumes a relevant role in energy generation, we have a team of 70 people to have maximum control over the quality and safety of the work and manage the projects with maximum guarantee from start to finish. end. And we take care of everything, from design, engineering and processing, through installation, commissioning and legalization to the management of subsidies and tax credits. In this way we land in the Balearic Islands, where we want to share and provide our experience in the Islands with a direct, transparent and digital interaction with our clients.
We are driven by a passion for renewable energies and the entire team is very vocational about this matter. Our goal is to continue reaching out to the greatest number of people and involve them in the change in the energy model.
The Balearic Islands are a true paradise of sunlight practically all year round. This, together with the numerous subsidies for solar panels available, make it an ideal location to add a photovoltaic installation to homes and businesses that not only saves on electricity bills but also takes care of the environment.
