The provinces of Tarragona and Lleida offer exceptional conditions for solar self-consumption. Here are the four key reasons:
The Costa Daurada and the province of Tarragona exceed 2,600 hours of sunlight per year, while Lleida reaches similar figures with clearer winters. Annual solar radiation between 1,550 and 1,700 kWh/m² enables high and stable photovoltaic production, comparable to that of southern Spain.
Catalonia has one of the highest electricity bills in Spain. Installing solar panels allows you to produce your own energy and reduce dependence on electricity market price hikes, especially in summer when air-conditioning consumption peaks on the Costa Daurada.
The high solar radiation of the area shortens the payback period of a photovoltaic installation: between 5 and 7 years in most residential projects, and even less if combined with an air-source heat pump or electric vehicle. Peak solar production (summer) coincides with the tourism and hotel consumption peak on the Costa Daurada, as well as with the agro-industrial activity of Lleida (irrigation, refrigeration, cooperatives).
The RDL 7/2026 has created one of the most comprehensive grants frameworks in Europe for solar self-consumption in Catalonia:
All these grants are compatible with each other, which allows a drastic reduction of the real installation cost.

The province of Tarragona combines coastal areas of the Costa Daurada with dry, exposed inland zones (Priorat, Terra Alta), while Lleida faces extreme summer heat, spring hailstorms and frost in the Pyrenees. At SolarTradex we work with SunPower Performance panels, designed to withstand this climatic diversity while maintaining maximum performance throughout their lifespan.
The panels pass the IEC 61215 mechanical resistance tests, which guarantee structural integrity against hail, wind and snow load. In areas of Lleida with frequent convective storms (Segrià, Urgell, Pla d'Urgell) or in the north with snowfalls (Pyrenees), this resistance is critical. In addition, they maintain a low thermal coefficient that preserves performance even at temperatures above 40 °C, common in summer in southern Lleida.
The panels have Fire Class A certification (IEC 61730-2 / UL 790), the highest fire resistance, a key factor in rural areas of Priorat, Terra Alta or Pallars with a risk of forest fires. They also pass the Ammonia Test IEC 62716 (resistance to ammonia in livestock and agricultural facilities in Lleida) and Dust and Sand IEC 60068-2-68 (resistance to dust and sand, common in agro-industrial areas). For installations on the Costa Daurada seafront, the IEC 61701 Severity 8 certification also guarantees resistance to salt mist.
They offer a triple power, product and service warranty of 20 years with a minimum performance of 80% at the end of the period. The special encapsulant resists humidity, corrosion and thermal variations, extending the real lifespan of the equipment in varied climates. They also hold the Cradle to Cradle Bronze certificate, which accredits the panel's sustainability in material health, water stewardship, carbon management and social responsibility.
The most recommended option for installations across the entire provinces of Tarragona and Lleida: from single-family homes on the Costa Daurada to agricultural facilities in Segrià, rural houses in Priorat or industrial projects in Camp de Tarragona.

The Royal Decree-Law 7/2026 extends tax deductions for homes. There are three different deductions that can apply according to the action:
Valid until 31/12/2026.
Valid until 31/12/2027. Applies if the work reduces at least 30% of non-renewable primary energy consumption (or reaches energy rating A or B). Requires an Energy Efficiency Certificate (CEE) after the works.
Independent deduction. Valid until 31/12/2026.
Tip for reaching the maximum deduction: Installing only solar panels puts you in the low bracket (10% flat, 20% single-family). To access 40% or 60% for energy rehabilitation you must reduce at least 30% of non-renewable primary energy consumption. The most common way is to combine Photovoltaic + Aerothermia (replacing the gas boiler with a heat pump). If you also add an electric vehicle charger, you get an extra independent 15% deduction.
The new radius of 5 km (previously 2 km) opens new opportunities for energy communities in industrial parks, neighbourhoods or entire towns in Tarragona and Lleida. Ideal for homeowner communities, small towns and groups of nearby companies.
Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) are applied as a direct discount on the quote, without paperwork for the client. They apply exclusively to the replacement of gas boilers with aerothermia. Combining photovoltaics + aerothermia allows simultaneous access to the high IRPF bracket (40% flat, 60% single-family) and the CAE discount for the aerothermia.
Companies investing in renewable energies before 31/12/2026 can amortise 100% of the investment in the same fiscal year, instead of the usual 15 years. Ideal for industrial buildings, agricultural cooperatives in Segrià, Costa Daurada hotels or any company with positive tax profits.
Many councils in Tarragona and Lleida offer tax reductions for legalised photovoltaic installations.

| Tarragona | Up to 50% for 5 years |
| Reus | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| Salou | Up to 50% for 5 years |
| Cambrils | Up to 50% for 5 years |
| Vila-seca | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| El Vendrell | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| Torredembarra | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| Tortosa | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| Calafell | Up to 50% for 3 years |
| Amposta | Up to 50% for 3 years |
The main municipalities of Lleida (Lleida capital, Balaguer, Tàrrega, Mollerussa, Cervera, Solsona and La Seu d'Urgell) also offer IBI reductions for photovoltaic installations. Percentages and durations vary according to the tax ordinance in force in each municipality. Check the updated conditions at your council or ask us to verify the grants applicable to your specific case.
Most councils in Tarragona and Lleida offer discounts on the ICIO (Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works) of up to 95% of the total fee for projects that integrate renewables.
A reduced VAT of 10% can be applied to refurbishment works that include solar panels, provided these do not exceed 40% of the total cost of the works and are part of a comprehensive reform or refurbishment.

If you are considering an energy transition in your home during 2026, it is essential to know the IRPF (income tax) deductions introduced by the Royal Decree-Law 7/2026. These incentives are designed to reward those who drastically reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.
Yes, you can deduct part of the investment in your solar installation. The amount depends on two key factors:
To access the maximum deductions, the most common route is to combine photovoltaic installation with aerothermal: replacing the gas boiler guarantees exceeding the 30% threshold and activating the higher deduction bracket. In addition, if you add a charger for an electric vehicle, you add a 15% independent deduction.
If the property has two owners, the deduction can be applied twice by splitting the cost of the works in two. That is, each owner can deduct up to the maximum allowed based on the type of home and action, doubling the total tax savings.
Installing only solar panels usually stays within the 20% bracket. To reach the 30% consumption reduction required for the top brackets, the best routes are:
The fundamental technical requirement to apply these income tax deductions is having the official technical justification corresponding to each type of action, in addition to the fact that the property cannot be used for any economic activity.
This justification is provided through official certificates and by meeting minimum improvement thresholds:
1. Energy Efficiency Certificates (CEE): They are essential to justify deductions linked to the efficiency and reduction of the property's or building's consumption:
2. Electrical Installation Certificates (CIE): Required for electricity generation installations:
3. Physical infrastructure:
The 30% reduction refers specifically to the decrease in non-renewable primary energy consumption of the property or building.
Although the regulations do not specify the exact mathematical formula, the calculation and official certification must be carried out through the Energy Efficiency Certificates (CEE). This technical certificate compares the previous and subsequent state of the property to justify access to the 40% deduction (individual homes) or 60% (entire buildings).
Note: The deduction also applies if the CEE proves that, after the works, an energy rating with an A or B label has been reached.
Technical analyses indicate that an integrated intervention, such as combining photovoltaic panels with the replacement of a gas boiler with an aerothermal system, virtually guarantees exceeding this 30% threshold.
Yes, they are perfectly compatible and can be combined in the same project. In fact, taking advantage of both incentives together is the most profitable strategy under the new framework of the Royal Decree-Law 7/2026.
When a deep energy renovation is carried out — for example combining the installation of solar panels with the replacement of a gas boiler with an aerothermal system — the client can access both benefits at the same time:
Check the details on our grants and subsidies for solar panels page.
Yes. RDL 7/2026 legally enables municipal councils to apply reductions of up to 50% on the IBI (property tax) and rebates of up to 95% on the ICIO (construction tax) for projects that integrate renewables.
Both benefits are presented as complementary incentives alongside the state income tax deductions. There is no legal restriction preventing the simultaneous enjoyment of local and state tax advantages.
Important note on incompatibilities: The only express restriction occurs internally between the income tax deductions themselves: the 20% deduction for installing renewable self-consumption cannot be combined with the building rehabilitation deductions.
At SolarTradex we handle all administrative management: you only need to sign. These are the procedures and approximate costs by territory.
Procedures in Catalonia
Procedures in the Balearic Islands
Energy Performance Certificate (CEE) for income tax deduction
If you want to apply the income tax deduction, you need a double CEE certification (one prior, no more than 2 years old, and another after the works).
Do we handle it? Yes. The entire administrative process (permits, registrations, applications for reductions) is managed by our team. You receive your installation up and running and fully legalised.
The timeframes depend on the type of grant, and with the new framework of the Royal Decree-Law 7/2026, the system has been simplified. The IRPF (income tax) deduction is applied in the following year's tax return (immediate effect when filing). The CAE system is the fastest incentive, as it is applied as an immediate discount on the quotation, before the works begin.
The FACTOR 2026 call in the Balearic Islands is resolved on a strict first-come, first-served basis; after the grant is awarded and the installation justified, the Government makes the payment. The municipal IBI discount depends on each town council and is usually applied from the fiscal year following the application.
Regarding the NextGeneration subsidies awarded in 2021-2022, there are still files pending resolution or payment due to administrative overload. If you have a pending NextGeneration file, we recommend consulting our specialised content on our blog for guidance on how to complete the justification and collect the subsidy.
